Confession: I'm a Glossier Groupie.

Updated: Jan 19, 2020

So a lot of you guys have been asking about my skincare routine... jk. But seriously, I've been getting a lot of questions about Glossier skincare specifically, and as a Glossier groupie, I feel it is my duty to bring that information to the people.

I've been obsessed with Glossier since inception (1. Emily Weiss is a bad ass, 2. The brand was created by their customers which is a really smart way to create a company, 3. The products are really good.)

I'd categorize Glossier skincare as 'mid-range'. It is higher end than drugstore, but more affordable than most Sephora or department beauty counter products.

My skin type is combination and acne prone. I have always had somewhat "problem skin" and I have tried many products, medications, diets, etc. to help my skin. Ultimately, I've learned to love my skin for its flaws and at this point in my life, I try to find products that keep my acne "in check" but after 10+ years of struggling, I'm not sure it will ever completely go away.

Here are the products that I have personally tried, and my honest review of them. Click on the names of the products to learn more about them from Glossier itself.

Figured I would start off with my fave. Described as "an exfoliating skin perfector", this is a gentle chemical exfoliant (as compared to a physical exfoliant i.e. a grainy scrub). I personally love this product because it doesn't irritate my skin but the AHA/BHA/PHA salicylic acid prevents breakouts and helps with skin texture. I use it nightly using a pump or two of product on a cotton pad. If I skip using this product for a couple of days in a row, I will notice that a breakout might appear. I love this product so much. It's very affordable at $29 and a nice introduction to acids if you haven't dabbled.

This is Glossier's newest skincare launch. It is an oil serum hybrid, and it gives you ALL. OF. THE. GLOW. I use 1 or 2 pumps of the product almost as a primer before putting my makeup. It feels more like a makeup product to me than a skincare product but I really do enjoy it. The packaging is also stunning with its haloscopic glass bottle. I'd give this product a 7/10 rating. I've been enjoying the glowy, dewy look it gives me when I use it as the last step of my routine before applying makeup, but I'm probably not going to repurchase. More of a "nice to have" than a "need to have".

Zit Stick

As I've mentioned 5x already, I deal with acne. Mostly around my chin, mouth, jaw area. Sometimes it's hormonal cystic acne, sometimes its small regular breakouts. Glossier's Zit Stick is really really good, but it's strong so it can really dry your skin out. When I first tried it, I was twisting and twisting and twisting and it seemed like no product was coming out. Many people have complained about this and how it's not a lot of product once you get it going. I didn't really care. Just know that you have to crank it until you clearly see white product coming out. It's effective. Put it on overnight and you'll notice a significant decrease in your breakout the next morning. Just load on the moisturizer, and start slow with how often you are using it, especially on the same breakout. Highly recommend for fellow acne-sufferers.

Milky Jelly Cleanser and Priming Moisturizer

I'm putting these 2 together because I feel similarly about both of them. Really nice, basic, gentle products. I am not currently using either in my skincare routine but I did enjoy them when I tried them both. I don't have much to say about them because as a skincare junkie, I love seeing when products DO SOMETHING, and these honestly don't but that's the whole point of them. Not irritating. Gentle. Nice. Fine. Ok moving on.

Super Pure

I've recently become obsessed with niacinamide and there's no going back. It's a miracle ingredient when it comes to keeping my skin clear and the best thing about niacinamide is that it plays nicely with everyone on the playground. It doesn't interact negatively with any other "active ingredient" so it's safe to use morning & night, which I totally do. It helps with uneven skin texture (hello), acne (hello) and excess oil (hello). It's currently out of stock but keep it on your wish list.

The Skincare Edit

I've never seen anything cuter in my whole life. I have not purchased this because I use the full sizes, obvi. But if you want to try Glossier's skincare, this is SUCH GOOD VALUE. It comes with a travel size of the Milky Jelly Cleanser, Super Bounce, Priming Moisturizer Rich, Balm Dotcom, Futuredew, and a limited-edition Glossier headband. I honestly might order one for travelling (and just for shits and giggles because I love mini things).

I haven't (yet) tried the other products in the Glossier skincare line. Let me know if there's a product you are curious about - I'm happy to be a guinea pig.
